The Next Great RB, Not So Fast

Adrian Peterson has once again been bitten by the injury bug, suffering a tear of his lateral collateral knee ligament. The injury is expected to keep him out between 2-4 weeks. Adrian Peterson has had 2 monster games this year for a lack luster, one dimensional, Vikings offense. Peterson has raised Minny fans hopes he could be the next great RB. But for the same reason Peterson fell in the draft to the Vikings at #7, he just can't seem to stay on the field for a full season. Their have been plenty of talented backs to come into the NFL over the years but if you can't play, you can't be great. Hopefully the Vikings realize and appreciate the special talent they have in Peterson and they don't try to rush him back before he is ready. The Vikings need to protect Peterson for the future and develop a plan to build around him in the offseason, first they need to find him a legitimate QB either through the draft or free agency and they need to give this QB some impact receivers, This team has made the mistake of drafting wr's from Steve Spurrier's offense (Williamson and Rice) who since his Florida days have been notorious for being disappointing at the pro level. Otherwise, Peterson will never reach his full potential trying to beat 8 and 9 man fronts, look what happened to Frank Gore this year in San Fran.
